Panaché – Help
Answers to the most common questions, and how to reach us.
Frequently asked questions
How does the rule block incomplete orders?
At checkout, Shopify checks the cart against Panaché’s rule. If the number of bottles doesn’t make an allowed case, the customer sees a message telling them how many bottles to add, and can’t pay until the case is complete.
Are my customers told before checkout?
Yes. The cart gauge (an app embed to turn on in the theme editor) and the “Build your case” block on product pages show the case’s progress live. The cart’s checkout button always stays active: only checkout blocks.
How do I count a magnum or a case?
Products page: set the bottle equivalent of each product or variant (magnum = 2, case of 6 = 6). By default, a product counts as 1 bottle.
How do I exclude a product (gift box, accessory)?
Either limit the rule to some collections or products (Products page), or set its bottle equivalent to 0.
How can I test without affecting my customers?
Turn on test mode (Cases page): the rule only applies to customers tagged “test”. Create a test customer with that tag, log in as them and try an incomplete cart.
Can some customers skip the rule (trade, wine shops)?
Yes, from the Standard plan: on the Customers and tools page, enter the tags of exempt customers. These customers, when logged in, are not blocked and don’t see the gauge.
Does the rule apply to in-store sales (Shopify POS)?
No. Point-of-sale sales don’t go through the online checkout rule: you can still sell single bottles at the counter.
What happens if the app has a problem?
Your sales are never blocked because of the app: if its configuration is missing or unreadable, the rule lets orders through. The Diagnostics page reports the problem and offers to fix it.
The gauge doesn’t show in my cart: what should I do?
Check that the Panaché app embed is turned on in the theme editor (Home or Diagnostics page). If your theme has an unusual cart drawer and the gauge still doesn’t show, contact us: we’ll help you display it.
Why hide express checkout buttons on product pages?
These buttons (Shop Pay, Apple Pay…) go straight to checkout without going through the cart and its gauge. The rule still applies at checkout, but the customer sees the message later.
